My little sister is 9 years younger and was obsessed with dips from the time she was small. Sometimes we waited forever to start eating while she created a concoction to add flavor to her meal. This became a thing in my family and we made meals around dips because it made Kerry happy.
This recipe is really about the importance of brining your meat! If you treat your meat to a good brine, you can do almost anything you want to it and it will be moist and delicious. I was in the mood for something sweet, so I took beautiful Heritage Pork chops from the farm and grilled them with an amazing fig jam that I picked up too.
I am all about simplicity and most nights it’s as easy as white rice or roasted potatoes, but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up! This Wild Rice side is very easy, but a departure from the norm, so it’s special. Everything I make, my goal is to use the best quality ingredients and if I can increase the nutrients I do.
Can you think of anything better than homemade ice cream? During the summer, fresh fruit is so abundant and there isn’t a better time for stone fruit, so Peach Ice Cream it is! I am not reinventing the wheel with this recipe. Cream, sugar, milk and eggs has been used to make ice cream since the beginning if time.

I came across this picture this morning and started thinking about the idea that, so many that struggle with chronic illness talk about what it took to walk through the fire, what they endured and how they changed their lives, but often times, the caregivers and those that hold it all together are overlooked.
At the end of every school year, I have this feeling of excitement that Summer is arriving, but also this sadness that life is moving too fast. I don't often write about my three reasons for living my best life, but I have been doing so much work on myself, on my healing that it is hard not to think about the humans that wake you up every morning. I want it all to slow down, time moves at such a rapid pace, that you don't realize that your children are actual people and your job of changing diapers, giving nightly bubbles and singing lullabies has vanished.
Imperfect that’s me. My yoga practice, my journey towards healing, my job as a mom, as a wife, as a friend. When I look at this picture I see perfection in trying, and strength and perseverance but it’s not without a lot of effort.
I sometimes forget that for GF newbies, eating in general may be a challenge. Thinking of what you are and are not allowed to eat can become daunting. For me it is second nature and I promise for all of you that are reading this and just starting out, it will be the same for you!
Hmmm so what is self care. The definition goes something like this. Intentional actions you take to care for your physical, mental and emotional health. Taking that idea further, it's taking deliberate steps to ensure that your mind, body and soul are being nourished.

My family is officially entering summer vacation, school is coming to an end and the craziness is about to begin.. Every year I promise myself that we will relax as much as possible, slow life down and try not to over schedule! Since that probably won't happen, keeping my kids active, healthy and safe is my top priority.

Events can happen in your life, where you wish you could explain through words how amazing an experience is.

After looking outside to rain the last week, soup is all my family has wanted to eat. Soup is the most nourishing, soothing dish you can make and to have a few recipes in your toolbox, makes dinnertime that much easier!
