the ultimate healthy turkey burger

Ground Turkey was just not in my wheelhouse for so long. I didn’t go there, didn’t think about it and really thought anything that was made from turkey meat was dry, bland and boring. Guess what, I was wrong… I found a way to make the Ultimate Healthy Turkey Burger and it has changed my meal prep rotation most weeks.

I really crave it and would probably eat it more often if I didn’t have kids that liked to change things up all too often. What I do sometimes, is buy a pound, season it and leave it in the fridge uncooked. Usually for a few lunches or even breakfasts in a row, I take out what I need and fry it up in a cast iron skillet. I do it this way beacause it ends up tasting fresher and doesn’t take any additional time.

The secret ingredient in this burger is butter, yep a good pat of butter makes it moist and flavorful and I am a believer in Turkey meat now!

These can be made on a grill, be carful not to over cook, but I think the best way is in a cast iron skillet. I can fit 5 at a time and it takes under 10 minutes. My favorite thing about this dish, maybe even more than the actual burger is the toppings. My favorite, without the bun of course and wrapped in butter lettuce, is fresh avocado, Bubbies Saurkraut and my homemeade Sriracha Mayo. I am drooling just thinking about it.

  • 1 tsp. salt
